The Gesellschaft für Karibikforschung (Society for Caribbean Research) is an international and interdisciplinary forum for promoting and discussing research on Caribbean and African Diaspora themes - mainly in the field of the social, cultural and historical sciences. Its membership is worldwide. Communications are done in English, Spanish, French and German.

Regarding contributtions on the electronic journal, only English is possible for the moment.

Past and future activities

  1. organizing congresses (so far held in Berlin, Vienna, and Utrecht)
  2. publishing the conference proceedings;
  3. circulating newsletters;
  4. promoting communication within the worldwide network of researchers
    on the Caribbean and researchers from the Caribbean region;
  5. contributing to the co-ordination and co-operation of individual research
    projects and research institutions;
  6. discussing new methods and theories on Caribbean research
    in an interdisciplinary manner;
  7. encouraging innovative communication strategies for the exchange
    of any relevant information regarding 1-6.
